IT help for
businesses
Plain-English IT help for small businesses without an IT department — email, domains, accounts, backups, security and the questions you've been putting off — from someone who'll explain what they did and why.
Most small businesses don't have an IT person. They have whoever is least scared of the router. That works right up until email stops, a laptop dies or an account gets hacked.
I help small businesses get the essentials set up properly and keep them that way: business email on your own domain, the right accounts with the right access, backups that actually run, sensible security, and advice when you're choosing software or equipment.
No jargon, no upselling and no mystery. I'll explain what's wrong, what I'm going to do and what it'll cost before I do it — and leave notes so you're not dependent on me.
What I help with
ExamplesEmail & domains
Business email on your own domain, set up so it reaches inboxes rather than spam folders. Domains, DNS and moving providers without losing anything.
Microsoft 365 & Google Workspace
Set-up, migration, shared calendars and drives, and adding or removing staff without chaos.
Security basics
Two-factor sign-in, a password manager, sensible permissions and a plan for when someone leaves — the steps that stop most problems before they start.
Backups & recovery
Automatic backups for files, email and your website, and checking they can actually be restored.
Devices & set-up
New laptops, phones, printers and Wi-Fi set up properly, and older ones kept up to date and secure.
Advice & second opinions
Choosing software, reviewing a quote from another supplier, or just working out what you actually need before spending money.
How it works
Fixed price, upfrontTell me what's going on
Email or call with the problem or the project. If it's urgent, say so.
Clear quote
I'll tell you what I think is needed and the price before starting — fixed where the job is clear.
Sorted
I fix or set it up, remotely where possible, and test that it works.
Written notes
A short plain-English note of what was done, logins stored safely, and what to watch for next.
Questions
Straight answersDo you offer ongoing IT support or just one-off jobs?
Both. Plenty of businesses just need a one-off fix or set-up. If you'd rather have someone on hand, we can agree a simple monthly arrangement with a clear scope — no long contracts.
Can you work remotely?
Most jobs can be done remotely and securely, which keeps things quick and affordable. I'm Essex-based for anything that genuinely needs someone in the room.
What does it cost?
Clear jobs get a fixed quote before I start. Ongoing support is a simple monthly arrangement agreed upfront. Either way, you know the cost before any work begins.
Is this for home users too?
This service is aimed at small businesses, sole traders and charities — though if you run your business from home, that's exactly who it's for.
