Privacy & cookies.
What this website collects, why, and what you can do about it. Plain English, no small print.
Who I am
Plesner Studio is run by Michal Plesner in Essex, UK. I'm responsible for any personal data collected through this website. You can reach me at Michal@plesner.studio.
What I collect and why
- Contact and website-check forms. Your name, email, and whatever you write. I use it only to reply and, if we work together, to run the project. The forms are processed by Netlify, which hosts this site.
- Email and WhatsApp. If you contact me directly, I keep the conversation so I can help you. WhatsApp is run by Meta under its own privacy policy.
- Analytics, only if you say yes. With your permission, Google Analytics records which pages are visited, roughly where visitors are from, and which buttons are used. It doesn't tell me who you are. Advertising features are switched off.
- Server logs. Like every website host, Netlify briefly keeps technical logs (such as IP address and browser) to keep the site secure and working.
The legal basis is your consent for analytics, and my legitimate interest in answering enquiries and running my business for everything else. I never sell your data or add you to a mailing list without asking.
Cookies
This site only sets cookies if you click Accept on the cookie banner. Those cookies come from Google Analytics (names starting with _ga) and last up to 2 years. If you click No thanks, no analytics cookies are set. The site also remembers your choice, and whether you prefer the dark theme, in your browser's local storage. That information never leaves your device.
Who else handles data
- Netlify hosts the site and processes the forms.
- Google provides Analytics (only with your consent) and the website's fonts.
- My email provider stores the emails you send me.
Some of these providers process data outside the UK, under the safeguards UK law requires.
How long I keep it
Enquiries that don't become projects are deleted within 2 years. Client records are kept for as long as the law requires for tax and accounting, usually 6 years. Analytics data is kept for 14 months.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete the data I hold about you, or object to how it's used. Just email me and I'll respond within a month. If you're unhappy with how I've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
